Côte. Panzeri 1947

The inspiration from the Côte lamp comes from the decorative finishing technique commonly applied to the movements of high-end Swiss watches, especially in the watchmaking tradition of Genèva.

This process involves creating a series of fine, parallel lines on the surfaces of watch components, often on parts like bridges, plates, and rotor. These lines are achieved through a meticulous hand-finishing process.

The term “Côte de Genève” is closely associated with the waves from the Leman Lake situated in the french part of Switzerland.

The main body is the circle. I believe it’s the best option to represent the craftsman finishing “Côte de Genève” or “Côte Stripes”. The circle remembers the circular watch cases and the flat surface is perfect to expand this finnish evoking distinction and iconicity.

Light is the magical aspect of everything. Nature with the sunrise and the sunshine is showing us this incredible and wonderful atmosphere everyday. Being a designer that designs with the light It requires all my sensibility and creativity to understand and play with this ethereal aspect. What is important in my lighting works is to push all the possibilities that each project could offer and determine the lighting formula of each one of my creations. With the Côte I contemplated some aspects. The most important was the light defragmentation effect when it indices with the glass stripes, this fact breaks the flat and circular light source from the lamp and is converted into a dynamic and organic light effect that changes in each point of view. Another aspect is when the lamp is turned off, natural daily light is incredible and is changing during the day explaining transitions of light and shadows changing intensities, colour and temperature is the best atmosphere in our surrounding.

With the “Côte de Genève” texture on the glass of the diffuser of our lamp I reproduce the best scenario to transmit this natural and cotydian light transitions.
